Theme: Cao Bang's iconic landscapes

Begin your journey from Cao Bang City and travel through the spectacular limestone scenery of the northern border region.

Morning: Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda

Visit Truc Lam Phat Tich Pagoda, a peaceful Buddhist sanctuary overlooking the surrounding mountains and countryside. From the hillside viewpoint, enjoy a panoramic perspective of Ban Gioc Waterfall and the Quay Son River below. On clear days, the view extends towards the neighbouring Chinese landscape across the border. Take time to appreciate the scenery and capture photographs before continuing to the waterfall.

Late Morning: Discover Ban Gioc Waterfall

Explore Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Vietnam's most impressive natural landmarks, where cascading water flows between lush greenery and dramatic limestone mountains. Walk around the designated viewing areas, enjoy different perspectives of the falls and take photographs of this remarkable landscape. Where available and permitted, a bamboo raft ride may offer a closer view of the cascading water.

Early Afternoon: Explore Nguom Ngao Cave

Continue to Nguom Ngao Cave, a fascinating limestone cave filled with stalactites, stalagmites and naturally sculpted rock formations. Walk through the accessible sections and discover the underground landscapes created over thousands of years. The cool cave environment provides a refreshing contrast to the open scenery around the waterfall.

Afternoon: Check In at Your Local Homestay

Travel to your selected countryside homestay and settle into your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a little free time to relax, explore the surrounding village or take photographs of the countryside.

Evening: Home-Cooked Local Dinner

Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner featuring regional dishes and seasonal ingredients.

Spend the evening at a relaxed pace, learn more about local food traditions and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of rural Cao Bang.

Overnight: Local homestay in the Cao Bang countryside.

Day 2: Outdoor Adventure – Ngoc Con Landscape – Local Cooking Class (B/L/D)

Theme: Nature, active exploration and local traditions

Today is designed to help you experience Cao Bang beyond its main attractions. Enjoy the countryside at a slower pace, with a choice of outdoor activities and an opportunity to discover local food culture.

Morning: Choose Your Countryside Adventure

After breakfast at the homestay, choose an activity suited to your interests, fitness level and the day's conditions.

Option 1 – Cycling through local villages

Cycle along quiet countryside roads, passing rice fields, limestone mountains and traditional villages. Stop along the way to take photographs and observe everyday rural life.

Option 2 – Easy countryside trekking

Follow a scenic walking route through the countryside, with opportunities to enjoy the mountain views, discover village life and appreciate the quieter landscapes of Cao Bang.

Option 3 – Kayaking on a suitable local waterway

When local facilities, water levels and weather conditions permit, enjoy a peaceful kayaking experience surrounded by limestone scenery and rural landscapes. The final activity will be confirmed according to the location of your homestay, seasonal conditions and the availability of suitable local routes and equipment.

Midday: Lunch and a Short Rest

Return to the local area for lunch and some time to relax before the afternoon's exploration.

Afternoon: Explore the Ngoc Con Landscape

Discover the beautiful countryside around Ngoc Con, known for its peaceful rural scenery, limestone formations and open valley landscapes. Depending on the confirmed route and your fitness level, enjoy a guided walk or a more challenging uphill hike to a suitable viewpoint. Take time to appreciate the scenery and photograph the countryside from a different perspective. For travellers who prefer a gentler pace, the experience can be adapted to focus on village exploration and scenic viewpoints rather than a demanding climb.

Late Afternoon: Relax by a Natural Stream

When weather, water levels and local conditions are suitable, enjoy some time beside a natural stream. You may dip your feet or take a refreshing swim at a designated safe spot. This is an opportunity to unwind after the day's activities and enjoy the natural environment. Swimming is optional and subject to a local safety assessment; no swimming should take place in unsafe currents or unsuitable water conditions.

Evening: Hands-On Local Cooking Class

Return to the homestay and take part in a cooking experience inspired by the flavours of Cao Bang. With guidance from your host or a local cook, discover regional ingredients, learn how traditional dishes are prepared and participate in making a meal. Enjoy the dishes you have helped prepare, share stories with your hosts and experience the warmth of local hospitality.

Overnight: Local homestay in the Cao Bang countryside

Day 3: Local Craft Villages – Angel Eyes Mountain – Cao Bang City (B/L)

Theme: Traditional craftsmanship and authentic rural life

After breakfast, check out and begin your final day exploring the cultural heritage and countryside of Cao Bang.

Morning: Discover Traditional Blacksmithing

Visit a traditional blacksmith village, where local craftsmanship has been passed down through generations.

Learn about the role of handmade tools in rural life and, when workshops are operating, observe artisans at work.

This is a short cultural stop designed to introduce you to the village's traditional craft without making the visit feel rushed or staged.

Late Morning: Experience Traditional Handmade Paper-Making

Continue to a traditional paper-making village for a more hands-on cultural experience.

Meet local artisans and learn how handmade paper is produced using traditional techniques and natural materials.

Depending on the workshop's activities, you may have the opportunity to participate in selected stages of the process. The visit offers insight into a traditional craft that remains closely connected to local knowledge, family traditions and rural life.

Lunch: Share a Meal with a Local Family

Enjoy lunch at a local family home, with regional dishes prepared using seasonal ingredients.

Rather than simply stopping at a restaurant, this meal offers an opportunity to experience everyday hospitality, discover local flavours and learn more about life in the countryside.

Afternoon: Angel Eye Mountain

Continue to Nui Thung, also known as Angel Eye Mountain, a distinctive limestone landscape featuring a dramatic natural opening in the mountain.

Enjoy a relaxed walk of approximately 30 minutes around the scenic area, allowing time for photographs and appreciation of the surrounding valley.

If a suitable local café is available, stop for coffee and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before beginning the journey back to Cao Bang City.

Return to Cao Bang City

Continue through the countryside towards Cao Bang City, with an expected arrival at approximately 3:00–4:00 PM, depending on road conditions, the final route and the duration of stops.
