FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 7 days really enough to cover all four destinations?
Yes — this itinerary has been refined to cover the highlights without rushing. The overnight train and cruise eliminate wasted travel days. If you can extend to 10 days, adding a day in Hanoi and an extra night in Sapa or Ha Long Bay significantly deepens the experience.
Is the overnight train comfortable for European travellers?
Consistently rated as one of the highlights of the trip. The soft-sleeper cabin is clean and air-conditioned with 4 berths. It's more comfortable than a budget flight and saves both time and a night's accommodation cost.
What fitness level is required?
Moderate. The Sapa trek covers 8km on mountain paths (3–4 hours). Fansipan involves 600 stone steps at altitude. Ha Long Bay kayaking is gentle. Ninh Binh cycling is flat. No technical skills required.
Is this a private tour or a group tour?
Private. All transfers and guide services are dedicated to your group. The Ha Long Bay cruise is shared with other guests as standard for overnight cruises. Azotar Travel avoids the large group bus format — a key reason European guests consistently rate their service highly on TripAdvisor.
What's the best time of year to do this tour as a European?
October to November is the sweet spot: Sapa's rice terraces are golden-yellow at harvest and Ha Long Bay weather is clear and cool. December to February aligns perfectly with European winter holidays. March to April offers warm days with good Ha Long Bay conditions before summer humidity.
